TRY OUR Southern Italian Homemade Meatballs RECIPE!
Ingredients List for about 10/12 Meatballs
Ground pork - 8oz (225 g)
Ground beef - 8oz (225 g)
Sandwich bread - 4 slices
Milk - 1⁄2 cup (118 ml)
Oil for frying - 1 tbsp (15 ml)
Grated parmesan cheese - 2 tbsp (30 g)
Parsley - 2 tbsp (30 g)
1 Egg
1 Garlic clove
Salt & pepper to taste
Preparation Time: 20 mins
Cooking Time: 60 mins
Instructions for Meatballs
  1. In a bowl combine the bread and milk together. Add all the ingredients: beef, pork, egg, parmesan, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix all with your hands, or with a fork, until you have a smooth compound.
  2. To form the meatballs roll within the palm if your hands about 3 tbsp (45 g) of meat mixture. Repeat this procedure until the end of the meat.
  3. In a frying pan over low heat, warm a small quantity of vegetable oil. Add one by one the meatballs and when the edge sizzles turn them around for several times until nicely browned on all sides.
  4. The meatballs are ready to be added to the tomato sauce.
NOTE: Fry or bake the meatballs until lightly brown so that most of the grease from the meat will melt in the pan and be discarded if you like or otherwise plunge them directly in the tomato sauce.
